Description
The site of Brill Station, opened in March 1872 on the Wotton Tramway which linked Brill with Quainton Road. In 1899 the Brill Tramway came under the management of the Metropolitan Railway, and eventually in 1935 London Transport. The London Passenger Transport Board closed the Quainton Road to Brill Service from 1st December 1935. [Photos of Brill station in about 1905 &1935] (B9).
A station of the Oxford & Aylesbury Tramroad Company stood here; the line was extended to Brill in 1872. Tramway closed 1935. The only remains of the tramway in Brill are cottages marked 'B&C' (for the Duke of Buckingham & Chandos, the tramway owner). The actual station site is a field behind these cottages (B1).
