A subrectangular ditched enclosure and pond of probable medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 265 metres NNW of New Farm in East Claydon village and centred at SP 73739 25947, a subrectangular ditch up to 6 metres wide encloses an internal area about 113.5 metres SW-NE and up to 71 metres NW-SE at its widest point. A linear ditch extends perpendicular internally from the NW facing side, subdividing the enclosure in two. Within the enclosure at the NW corner is a kidney shaped hollow that may have been a pond about 452 square metres in area. This ditched enclosure appears to form part of much more extensive medieval-dated village shrinkage earthworks that extend across fields to the north of the village. On recent remote sensing data, the enclosure and pond is just still visible as shallow and levelled earthworks within modern paddocks ( 6-7).
