A probable medieval and post medieval moat ditch is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located within the medieval deserted settlement of Quarrendon III in a field corner about 880 metres E of Lower Farm and centred at SP 78768 17849, a J-shaped ditch is about 58 metres long and up to 7 metres wide. From its E side the moat ditch extends about 40 metres, but has been filled with vegetation from the 1940s onwards and its extent is difficult to qualify, but may be up to 13 metres wide. Earthwork banks flank the W and S sides of the moat ditches. On aerial photographs taken in 2023 and recent remote sensing data, the earthworks remain extant and the J-shaped part of the moat ditch appears water-filled, whilst the remaining moat ditch section appears to be filled with unknown material (6-8).
