Description

DUMP OF EARLY C18 BOTTLES LOCATED AT SW CORNER OF MOAT INTERIOR (AT NGR), PARTIALLY DUG OUT BY DR S HALL IN JULY 1975. PARTY OF SCHOOLCHILDREN UNDER DIRECTION OF GEORGE LAMB (BCM) CONTINUED EXPLORATION TO DEPTH OF 1.2M, IN AUGUST 1975. MATERIAL RECOVERED INCLUDED WINE BOTTLES, NECKS OF APOTHECARIES' PHIALS, WINDOW GLASS; ALSO A BOTTLE STAMP DATED 1705 (FOUND BY DR HALL). POTTERY INCLUDED 3 PIECES OF CHINESE PORCELAIN, TIN GLAZE SHERDS, SALT GLAZED STONEWARE AND BROWN GLAZED SHERDS. [PHOTO, SLIDE & SKETCH PLAN] (B11).
