AYLESBURY RAILWAY CO FORMED 10 NOV 1835 TO CONNECT AYLESBURY WITH LONDON-BIRMINGHAM RAILWAY AT CHEDDINGTON. CONSTRUCTION BEGAN 12 MAY 1838; PUBLIC OPENING 10 JUNE 1839. PLANS TO EXTEND TO, EG, OXFORD NEVER EXECUTED. ONLY INTERMEDIATE STATION: MARSTON GATE (FULL DESCRIPTION) (B1).
RAILWAY SHOWN ON MAPS BETWEEN NGR'S (B2).
OPENED 10 JUNE 1839 WITH 3 DAILY RETURN TRAINS. PASSENGER SERVICES CEASED 2 FEB 1953; LINE CLOSED COMPLETELY WITH ENDING OF FREIGHT TRAFFIC ON 2 DEC 1963 (FULL ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF LINE (B5).
