Apse

Reconstruction of All Saints', Wing in the 9th or 10th century Semicircular or polygonal end of a building, especially of a chancel of a church or chapel. In classical architecture sometimes called an exedra. The apse was often used for the most sacred of ceremonies in medieval churches. The polygonal apse at All Saints' church, Wing, dates to the Saxon period and covers a crypt.
