Retouching

Secondary retouch or secondary flaking is the trimming which gives a chipped stone tool its final shape after the primary flaking has produced a blank of roughly the required form. Many flint artefacts in Buckinghamshire have been found to be retouched, such as the Mesolithic flake found at Further Pegs in Jordans and the Neolithic blade found on North Close, Medmenham.
