Pressure flaking

A technique for shaping stone tools, in which thin flakes are removed by pressure applied by means of an implement of bone, stone or wood. Pressure flaking is commonly found on thin flat artefacts such as daggers, arrowheads and spears. Two Neolithic flint blades found at Little Marlow were made by pressure flaking.
