Section

A section is a vertical profile of an archaeological site or feature. A section drawing is a scaled drawing made of a section. Archaeological features are often ‘sectioned’ i.e. excavated so that a profile can be seen in order to aid interpretation. Sections are especially useful for investigating the stratigraphy of a site.
