Plan

Plan of First World War practice trenches on Whiteleaf Hill after surveyingA plan is a scale drawing of the horizontal view of a site or a feature. During an excavation many plans may be drawn as different features and artefacts are encountered at different levels. Plans can aid in the interpretation of a site and may be used as a method of preservation where the physical site is destroyed or changed in some way. During the analysis and publication of a site, the many plans generated on site will be brought together to form phased plans for the whole site or smaller features within it.
