Upon Picket Common in this parish (Hughenden) in May 1795, a labourer throwing up a bank found 24 Roman copper coins in an earthern vessel about 18 inches below the surface: of the 8 I have seen, 3 are Hadrian's (AD 117-38), 4 Trajan's (AD 98-117) and 1 Aurelius (AD 161-80). Possibly a late 2nd century hoard.
