Whetstone
A whetstone, also known as a hone, is a stone used to sharpen the cutting edges on knives, swords and tools. Whetstones have been used since late prehistory.
Two Roman whetstones were found at Church Farm, Saunderton during excavation. At the other end of the scale, a modern whetstone, probably dating to the early twentieth century, was found at Woodend Farm, Little Horwood.
