ELSAGE FARM CALLED A MANOR TILL C17; IN 1283, WAS GRANTED TO MERTON COLLEGE. IN 1853, THE COLLEGE 'MERELY POSSESSED A FARM IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD KNOWN AS ELSAGE' (B2).
