Description
'Wharf' marked at NGR (B3).
Buckingham Basin and Wharf. Wharf House still stands & is occupied. Basin partly filled and and garage & petrol station now under construction on the site. Below the basin is a winding point which possibly had a sluice from the R Ouse. (Sketch plan of Buckingham Wharf) (B4).
Terminus of Buckingham Branch of Grand Junction Canal. 3 wharves here: Lower Wharf; Town or Middle Wharf at drawbridge 29; Terminus or Upper Wharf. There were depots for coal, deal, slates, lime, & mills for lime, bone grinding etc. Most of site now covered by new housing etc (B5).
