Description

BANKS & OTHER EARTHWORKS VISIBLE ON AP'S (B1).
FIELD VISIT, 28/7/1977 FOUND THE GROUND WHICH SLIGHTLY SLOPES DOWN TO SMALL STREAM TO N HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN DISTURBED, BUT EARTHWORKS HAVE NO DISTINCT PATTERN. POSSIBLE AREA OF VILLAGE SHRINKAGE. S EDGE OF FIELD IS NOW BEING ENCROACHED UPON BY NEW HOUSING. NGR TO FIELD CENTRE (B2).
Earthwork survey by Oxford Archaeology in April 2014 identifies earthworks as quarry pits and associated spoil heaps, ridge and furrow, possible earlier lynchets, and areas of disturbance associated with a former field track. See report for detail (B3).
