Description

JEFFERYS' 1788 MAP MARKS 'DEEP MILL' (WATERMILL), BRYANT'S 1825 MAP MARKS 'LITTLE MISSENDEN MILL' (B1,B3).
1798 POSSE COMITATUS RECORDS 1 WATERMILLER - JOHN STONE, AT GREAT MISSENDEN (B2).
OS MAP MARKS 'DEEP MILL (CORN)' (B4).
MILL SEEMS TO HAVE BELONGED, UNTIL THE DISSOLUTION, TO MISSENDEN ABBEY. GRANTED IN 1545 TO RICHARD AND ROBERT TAVERNER. IN 1610 GRANTED TO DAVID FOWLES. LATER DESCENDED WITH GREAT MISSENDEN MANOR (B5).
MILL CEASED WORKING C.1887 (B6).
NO REMAINS: PROBABLY DESTROYED BY BUILDING OF RAILWAY (B7).
EARLY 13TH CENTURY CHARTER OF MISSENDEN ABBEY RECORDS ANNUAL RENT OF 6D FOR THE MILLPOND (B8).
