Description

The Domesday Book notes that in Beachampton (in Rowley Hundred) Hugh holds 5 hides of lands from Walter Giffard as one manor. The holding consists of land for 5 ploughs; in lordship 2. 5 villagers with 9 smallholders have 3 ploughs; 1 slave; 1 mill at 10s, meadow for 2 ploughs. Total value £4; when acquired 30s; before 1066 £4 10s. Alric, King Edward's man and thane, had held this manor (B7).
