Description

(SEE 2700:02 FOR MILLS:HISTORY). THERE CAN BE LITTLE DOUBT THAT HUNTSMOOR WAS ONE OF THE 3 DOMESDAY MILLS (SEE CASS 02829 & CASS 02834 FOR OTHERS). IT SURVIVED TILL ABOUT 1865 WHEN IT WAS BURNT DOWN, ONLY ITS SLUICE SURVIVING IN HUNTSMOOR PARK (B1).

Site of a watermill at TQ 048/814. The first known reference to a watermill here was made in 1230. another occurs in c.1865. There were 3 mills listed in Iver in Domesday Book (1086 AD).
