Description
PENNLANDS FARM HOUSE PROBABLY MARKS THE SITE OF THE MANOR OR CAPITAL MESSUAGE OF PENLANDS MANOR, MENTIONED FROM C13 (B1-2).
PENNLANDS FARM IS OF 2 STOREYS, BUILT PROBABLY EARLY IN THE C17, & TIMBER-FRAMED, WITH BRICK FILLING, WHICH IS PARTLY MODERN. THE ROOF IS TILED. THE PLAN IS RECTANGULAR, WITH MODERN ADDITIONS ON THE N AND E, AND THE CENTRAL CHIMNEY STACK IS OF THIN BRICKS. THE KITCHEN RETAINS SOME OLD CHAMFERED BEAMS IN THE CEILING, AND A WIDE FIREPLACE WITH CHIMNEY CORNERS, PARTLY FILLED IN (B3).
BUILDING STANDING TODAY IS LARGELY MODERN (B4).
