Description

Pilot study assessing methodology of carrying out rapid characterisation of settlement buildings in Chartridge and Bellingdon (B2).
Formerly part of Chesham parish, Chartridge was constituted a civil parish in 1899. In 1905 it had an area of 4,992 acres, comprising 2,910 acres of arable land, 1,056 acres of pasture and 344 acres of woods and plantations. The parish stretches across spurs of the Chiltern Hills, Chartridge and its several hamlets lie on the brow of these ridges (B3).
