Description

2 SPOONS FROM HOARD OBTAINED BY BCM (SAID TO HAVE BEEN 5 FOUND). BOTH HAVE PEAR-SHAPED BOWLS DECORATED WITH FLUTINGS; 1 HAS 'VENERIA VIVAS' ENGRAVED ALONG CENTRAL LENGTH OF BOWL (DESC, ILLUS ETC) (B7).
ENGRAVED SPOON WEIGHS 18.445G, UNMARKED SPOON 24.372G (B10).
A Christian connotation to the inscription 'VENERIA VIVAS' ('Veneria, long life to you') is possible (B11). SEE ALSO CASS 00084.
