Description

FAIRLY SMALL NUMBER OF PALEOLITHS FROM PURSERS PIT, BUT INCLUDES HAND AXES & FLAKES IN MINT CONDITION FROM BRICKEARTH (LISTED & SKETCHED, B3)(B1-3).
BRICKEARTHS CONSIDERABLY CONTORTED & LOCALLY MIXED WITH UNDERLYING GRAVEL ?DUE TO SOLIFLUXION ON EDGE OF TERRACE (B4,B6).
PURSER'S PIT SHOWN AT NGR (B5).
Site mentioned in English Rivers Palaeolithic Survey, pit open but no longer worked (B7-8).
Purser's Pit, Iver. The palaeoliths consist of one handaxe, a scraper, two levalloisian blades and three flakes (B9).
