Description

10 dwellings at Scuccanhlau Vel Fentuum, within the wood called Horwuda granted to St Alban's Abbey by King Offa in AD 792 along with the Manor of Winslow (B1).
Shucklow or Sheckley mentioned in Little Horwood church registers; boundaries on 1825 map. Site now occupied by Little Horwood Manor? Sketch map & further info on CAS card (B4).
An article tracing the 10th century boundary of the Manor of Winslow makes reference to Shucklow Manor. In the 18th century it comprised 216 acres - 10 acres of arable, 6 acres meadow and 200 acres of pasture. Bryant's map of 1820s shows it including Waterfall Coppice, another 37 acres (B6).
