Description
A GROUP OF NEOLITHIC (& 1 MESOLITHIC?) FLINTS FROM A SINGLE ALLOTMENT, S OF TRING ROAD & E OF CEMETERY (AT ABOVE NGR). ALSO 2 SHERDS OF NEOLITHIC/IRON AGE POTTERY FOUND. COLLECTED DURING GARDENING. SUBSOIL HERE LIGHT LOAM, ON BORDER OF PORTLANDIAN/GAULT (B1-5).
Trial trenching and metal-detector survey carried out by AS&C in November and December 2009 in advance of a further extension of the cemetery found little evidence of activity before the medieval period. See report for detail (B6).
