Description
WARDHURST PRESUMED TO BE SITUATED ON VERY HIGH GROUND BUT CANNOT NOW BE LOCALLY TRACED (B1).
WARDHURST REPRESENTS AN ANCIENT TITHING OF IVINGHOE (B2).
BOUNDARY DITCH OF THE COOMBE GOES THROUGH FOUNDATIONS OF BUILDINGS. LOCALS SAY THIS IS THE SITE OF WARDHURST VILLAGE (B3).
NGR - WARD'S COOMBE (B5).
Foundations of buildings and 17th-19th c sherds were found by J Wilson during the clearing of woodland and in a ploughed field from SP 970160 to SP 972156. This site represents the deserted hamlet of Wardhurst (B4).
