Description

Grade II. Shop, offices and dwelling. Early C19 with older origins, altered later C19 and C20. Rendered over brick, with incised masonry patterns, painted to ground floor, slate roof and rendered brick end stack to right. L-plan. 3-storey, 3-window range. Central C20 part-glazed, double-leaf doors approached by 1 stone step with over-light, panelled reveals and flattened columns to wood surround with Greek Doric capitals and entablature with deep enriched cyma reversa and cornice hood. Door is flanked by late C19 pilastered shop windows with open pediments. 12-pane sash windows to 1st floor with moulded wood surrounds, all with segmental-arched heads. Similar sashes to 2nd floor, either side of central dummy window, all with moulded wood surrounds. Cellar grating below left shop window, plinth and deep projecting bracketed eaves. 1-storey extension to rear left with plain-tile, lean-to roof. 2-storey wing to rear right (No.1B) of red brick in Flemish bond with courses of squared limestone rubble to ground floor below window sills, and plain-tile roof. Wing is in 2 builds and is continued by former 2-storey outbuilding. Wing has central plank door flanked by windows with continuous wood lintel, 16-pane sash windows to 1st floor with flat-arched heads and brick ridge stacks. Former outbuilding has pair of plank doors to centre, that to right with segmental-arched head, that to left with wood lintel and loft door above; 10-pane sashes to ground floor and 2-light casement windows to 1st floor. INTERIOR: stone cellar and boxed spine beams (B2).
