Type and Period (1)

  • MOAT? (17th Century - 1600 AD to 1699 AD)

Description

1625 TERRIER REFERS TO MOAT (B4).
IT IS NOT CLEAR WHETHER THE MOAT REFERRED TO IN THE TERRIER IS CAS 01860 OR ANOTHER IN THE VICINITY OF THE BENTHAMS RECTORY. TERRACING IN THE GARDEN OF THE FORMER RECTORY COULD REPRESENT THE REMAINS OF A MOAT; OR POSSIBLY THE NARROW SHEET OF WATER SHOWN NE OF THE RECTORY ON OS 1958 6-INCH MAP [AND ON 1ST EDITION 25-INCH MAP] COULD BE AN ARM OF A MOAT. THIS HAS NOW BEEN INFILLED FOR THE NEW RECTORY & ANOTHER BUNGALOW (B5).
