Description
Homestead moat, fragmentary (B3).
ALL TRACES OF SUPPOSED HOMESTEAD MOAT DESTROYED BY TIPPING. NO EVIDENCE ON AVAILABLE AERIAL PHOTOS (B4) OR DURING BUILDING WORK, C.1960.
Homestead moat, fragmentary, at The Grove (centred SU 98619161) Nothing visible on available APs; area heavily wooded (B3).
All traces of the supposed homestead moat are destroyed by tipping. It lay in the ground of Chalfont Grove, an 18/19th c mansion, now headquarters of the Services Kinema orporation. There is a tradition of an earlier house, but no remains were discovered when new repair shops were ereected in the angle of the supposed moat (B7).
