MR.G.BASIL BARHAM NOTES EXISTENCE OF SMALL SQUARE CAMP CLOSE TO ROAD, ABOUT 250YDS FROM VILLAGE, A small square camp, about 60 x 60 yds, with plainly marked bank and ditch; part of the south wall has been cut into by gravel working (B1).
SUB-RECTANGULAR ENCLOSURE COMPRISING LOW BANK AND DITCH. MUCH MUTILATED BY GOLF COURSE LANDSCAPING, QUARRYING AND MODERN ROAD (B2).

The remains of a sub-rectangular enclosure situated on level ground astride a golf fairway on Leyhill Common. It meaures internally c 60.0m NW-SE by c 50.0m transversely, within a slight bank and outer ditch. Where best-preserved on the N side, the bank is 0.5m high and the ditch 0.3m deep, but elsewhere the arms are mutilated and reduced by landscaping or quarrying. Similar non-defensive enclosures occur in S Bucks (See TQ 09 NW 32 and 37) usually within woodland, and often associated with linear banks or baulks. The purpose is uncertain but probably concerned with arboriculture. Surveyed at 1:2500 (B5).
