Summary

Medieval homestead moat and possible fishpond. The island measures 48m by 34m and is surrounded by a water filled moat 7m wide and 1.2m deep. An extension to the north 54m long and 7m wide was possibly connected the moat to a spring or served as a fishpond. The moat is crossed by a post medieval brick built bridge.

Dimensions - Length 61m, Width 54m.
Plan Form - RECTANGULAR
Homestead moat at Tithe Farm, Ivinghoe Aston (B1).
MOAT IS WOODED. SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN FED FROM A SPRING AT SP 9561 1807. PRESENCE OF HOUSE PLATFORMS, ADJACENT (01:000) SUGGESTS A MANORIAL SITE (B3).

A sub-rectangular waterfilled homestead moat at Tithe Farm measures, overall, 50.0m NW-SE by 60.0m transversely. The arms are 6.0 to 7.0m in width. A fishpond extends to the NE for a distance 50.0m and 8.0m in width. Tithe Farmhouse has been demolished, the farm buildings are derelict and the land is waste. The moat is reed-filled and heavily overgrown with trees and bushes. Published 25" survey correct (B6).
