Description

MESOLITHIC & NEOLITHIC FLINT WORKING SITE (B1).
MATERIAL COLLECTED FROM THE SITE BY MR WALTER FILBY, BETWEEN 1971 & 1973. SITE SHOWN AS 2 FIELDS ON OS 1960 MAP BUT NOW AMALGAMATED INTO 1. FINDS FROM CENTRE OF THE PAIR (B2).



(Area centred SP 855 038) Mesolithic and Neolithic flint working site (1). Finds made in a newly ploughed field by Mr W Filby, and donated to the Bucks County Museum consist of 159 cores, 4 boxes containing scrapers, flakes, and points, a possible tranchet axe, a Neolithic adze, 13 probable RB sherds. Acc Nos 61.73 and 404.73 (B5 and B6).
More flakes were picked up during field investigation. Mr Filby could not be contacted, but Mr Figg of Manor Farm Little Hampden found a barbed and tanged arrowhead in the field (B7).
