Description

EVIDENCE OF SHRINKAGE OVER A CONSIDERABLE AREA OF VILLAGE (B1).
HOUSE CLOSES & PLATFORMS VISIBLE ON AERIAL PHOTOS (B3).

The slight earthwork remains of probable Medieval settlement platforms seen to the north-west of Court Farm (centred at SP 6411 0807) on the southern edge of Worminghall village. A possible hollow way or moated enclosure can be seen centred at SP 6407 0833 immediately to the south of the centre of the village. These features are visible on aerial photographs taken in November 2006 by English Heritage as part of the Reconnaissance Recording programme. The extensive earthwork remain of Medieval ridge and furrow cultivation can also be seen on the eastern edge of the village (4).
