Description
THERE IS...AN INTRENCHMENT (B1).
NO VISIBLE REMAINS DURING BRIEF VISIT. NUMBER OF SMALL ?MEDIEVAL WOODLAND BANKS & HOLLOW WAYS ON RIDGE ADJACENT TO KEEP HILL (B2).
NUMBER OF WOODLAND BAULKS OF RELATIVELY MODERN PERIOD VISIBLE AVERAGING 0.8M. OCCUPIES AN AREA OF SPURS & DRY VALLEYS ABOVE WYE VALLEY (B3).
"There is also an intrenchment in the wood adjoining to Keep Hill, called Deane Garden Wood" (name at SU 879916) (B1).
Deangarden Wood occupies an area of spurs and dry valleys above the River Wye valley. There is no trace of an "intrenchment", but a number of woodland baulks of relatively modern period visible within the wood, averaging 0.8m in height, may be the earthworks to which Parker refers (B4).
