Summary

Bronze Age palstave found in a sandpit to the north of Yewden at Hambleden. The find is now in the County Museum, Aylesbury, accession number 140.36. Field investigations in 1974 found that the site was occupied by a car park.

HEAVY LOOPED PALSTAVE FOUND IN SANDPIT JUST N OF YEWDEN. NO RECORD OF ASSOCIATED OBJECTS. FORMERLY IN POSSESSION OF MR A E TAPLIN. (ILLUS) (B1).
GIVEN T0 BCM (DRAWING FILED) (B2-3).
PALSTAVE OF LATE TYPE, LATE BRONZE AGE DATE (B4).
ONLY SAND/GRAVEL PIT IN AREA ON OS MAPS IS AT NGR (B5).

(SU 78538551) A heavy looped palstave of a common type was found in a sandpit slightly north of Yewden at Hambleden. There is no record of associated objects. Date 1400-1200 BC (B9).

Presented to the County Museum, Aylesbury, by the executors of Mr E A Taplin in 1936 (Acc No 140.36) (B10).

A car park now occupies the site of the sandpit. (B11)
