Description

POSSIBLE ENCLOSURES AND LINEAR FEATURES PLOTTED FROM AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS AT 1:2500 (NMR METHOD)(B1).

A ditch of uncertain date and function and probable 20th century land drains are visible on historic aerial photographs as cropmarks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field immediately adjacent Galleylane Spinney and centred at SP 88614 32209, a linear ditch up to 1 metre wide extends 82 metres N-S. Extending 45 degrees to the field boundary from its E facing side are two parallel linear ditches about 1 metre wide, each about 40 metres long. These appear to be modern subsurface land drains in a typical herringbone pattern, which are far more extensive in the neighbouring fields to the east and to the south. A short length of ditch of uncertain date and function is about 2 metres wide and 8 metres long is aligned NW-SE by the field boundary (2)
