GROUP OF COINS DONATED TO BUCKS COUNTY MUSEUM BY MRS CALLOW IN DEC 1912. INCLUDEDS 2 GREEK COINS (01 :001,01:002); 2 ROMAN COINS (02:001,02:002). FOUND 'NEAR MISSENDEN'. ALSO 1 FORGERY OF A VESPASIAN COIN (MODERN?) (B1-4).
Two autonomous bronze coins from Great Missenden (SU 8901); one of Amisus, one of Carthage (B3).
A large number of coins found near Great Missenden (SP 8901) were presented to the County Museum by Callow in 1913; they included a 1st brass of Vespasian (AD 69-79) and a bronze Greek coin of Demeter (1).
The following coins from the Great Missenden area were presented to Bucks Co Museum. Two bronze Greek coins (Acc nos 300.12, 301.12); One bronze coin of Galba (68.69) (Acc No 303.12); One bronze coin of Marcus Aurelius (161-180) (Acc no 304.12); A coin formerly classified as a 1st brass of Vespasin (see Authy 1), but now considered to be a forgery (Acc No 302.12); Several post 1066 coins (B1).
