Description

Plan Form - LINEAR
LENGTH OF WALLING, SAID TO BE 0.6M-1M WIDE, RUNNING ALONG SLOPE OF HILL. BASE NOT REACHED AT C1.5M BELOW GROUND LEVEL. LENGTH 2 M PLUS. APPARENTLY BUILT OF BRICK ON A LIMESTONE BASE, SAID TO HAVE A GOOD SMOOTH SURFACE. FIELD VISIT SHOWED SITE TO RUN ACROSS A SMALL VALLEY LEADING DOWN INTO A POND. POSSIBLY IT WAS ONCE A DAM OR HA HA ASSOCIATED WITH WHADDON HALL OR ONE OF ITS PREDECESSORS. FOUND BY DRAINAGE CONTRACTORS WHILE LAYING FIELD DRAINS, AT NGR; REBURIED (B1).
