Description

AN ESTATE IN WYCOMBE KNOWN AS ASHWELLS DATES FROM THE C13 & STILL GIVES ITS NAME TO A FARM IN THE NORTH OF THE PARISH. IT WAS ATTACHED TO THE HONOUR OF WALLINGFORD, THE LAST MENTION OF THE OVERLORDSHIP BEING FOUND IN 1645 (MANORIAL HISTORY OF ASHWELLS)(B1).

Negative watching brief carried out by Foundations Archaeology in October 2005. 2.5m of modern made ground observed in test pit (B3).
