Description
7 Anglo-Saxon brooches found in digging foundations of Bishopstone Church (B1).
Site was probably in early times barely above flood levels. Appears to be later than the Cursley Hill site (B3).
Date plaque above former church shows built 1868 so presumably finds were made then (B5).
Others claim found in 1858 (B1,B3-4).
Negative watching brief carried out by Hertfordshire Archaeological Trust in 2001 at Dove House, on opposite side of road would seem to indicate that cemetery unlikely to have extended that far (B6).
