Description

Evaluation trial trenching carried out in 1994 by Tempus Reparatum in advance of mineral extraction identified an area of Upper Palaeolithic worked flints within brickearth deposits 1.2m thick in Trench 12 (B2).
Subsequent excavation in 1996 of a 10m X 10m area failed to recover further flint work, suggesting the finds were casual losses within a hollow or former channel within the underlying gravel (B3).
Flint report not entirely clear about type, number and dating of flints from this site (B4).
