Description
Cropmarks of a possible later prehistoric or Roman settlement enclosure visible on aerial photographs at SP 7315 1306 to the south-east of Marsh Farm. The site appears as a large rectilinear enclosure defined by a single ditch with a rounded NE corner in which there is a single entrance. An inner enclosure sits within the SW corner, possibly the primary enclosure onto which the outer enclosure was added. Within this inner enclosure are hints of further ditched structures with a possible ring ditch visible as a faint ring ditch and an enclosure against the southern side. A number of large amorphous pits can also be seen as cropmarks which may be associated with the site (1).
This record includes National Record of the Historic Environment Information provided by Historic England on 4 June 2025 licensed under the Open Government Licence (2).
Cropmarks not visible in 1999-2024 vertical aerial photos.
