Description
[SU 9014 8135] A polished basalt axe, found by Maidenhead Bridge, is in the British Museum (B1)
Maidenhead Bridge. Ground coarse-grained green-grey stone. Edge polished. Slightly waisted at butt. No sign of wear. L 171 mm. W 76 mm. T 45 mm. Wt 940 mm. British Museum (94 12-10 35).
(Possibly the one described above).
Maidenhead Bridge (SU 90148141). Ground and partly polished flint. Light ochreous with darker ochreous band towards butt. Slight hollowing on one face at the darker band. No sign of wear. L 160 mm. W 70mm. T 39 mm. Wt 550 gm. (In the possession of Mr H De Bruin) (B2).
