Description

Desk-based assessment and walkover survey by Archaeological Services and Consultancy Ltd in 2013 in advance of proposed new school building demonstrated that the site had been open fields, presumably farmland, from at least the 19th century onwards until the construction of the school in the mid 20th century. The school was officially opened in 1956, the earliest school buildings being built in buff brick with concrete tile roofs, of single and two stories. Additional buildings and extensions in red brick, were added in the late 1970s and more recently. See report for detail (B1).
Misbourne County Secondary School, by F B Pooley, the County Architect. Completed in 1955. For 300 children. Built in six moths. The Assembly Hall, also usedas a Community Centre, is steel-framed. The rest has load-bearing walls. African mahogany panels as cladding. Later additions (B2).
