Description
1960. Like St Michael, this is obviously of its time: projecting stretchers, spindly columns, a sehmental roof to the hall and a copper needle spire. The composition of church (W), ancillary rooms (N) and hall €, linked round a courtyard with a covered way for the fourth side, was popular then (eg two designs for Leicester churches by Basil Spence, 1957)(B1).
In April 1960, 100 years after their first chapel opened in Chestnut Lane, the Amersham Methodists moved to St John's Church, in Woodside Road (B2).
