Description

A rectangular terraced area of possible medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in a W facing sloping field about 350 metres NNE of Lower Farm and centred at SP 75287 24284, a three-sided scarp slope on the NNW, SSE and ENE facing sides form a rectilinear terraced area about 117 metres NNW-SSE and 70 metres WSW-ENE. The feature appears to underlie a block of extant medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947, suggesting it predates it. Its function is unclear (1-2).
