Description

A network of drainage ditches of probable post medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located on the north of the River Thame, approximately 400m south east of Mainshill Farm, Upper Winchendon, and centred at SP 74881 12416. These drainage ditches are on the floodplain of the River Thame west (downstream) of a moat-like fishpond (see MBC11111) and between the river and areas of ridge and furrow field systems. They may have been associated with water supply or drainage to the fishpond. (1-2)
