- DRAINAGE DITCH (Post-Medieval - 1540 AD to 1798 AD)
Description
An area of drainage ditches of probable post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located at Winchendon Priory, on the south side of the River Thame, in Cuddington, and centred at SP 73248 11669. This network of drainage ditches lies partly within the 18th and 19th century parkland, between the river and areas of ridge and furrow field systems, along the floodplain of the river. The earthworks are long straight linear ditches crossed by others at right angles within the parkland and as ditches parallel to the course of the river outside the parkland. (1-2)
