- RIDGE AND FURROW (Medieval to Post-Medieval - 1066 AD to 1798 AD)
Description
Ridge and furrow field systems of medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in the southern part of the parish of Ashendon inside the project area and centred at SP 71050 12827. The field systems are on the west side of a watercourse, to the east of Ashendon, and Lower Policott. Modern land use appears to be arable or ley pasture and the earthworks are becoming less well defined. (1-2)
