Description
An extractive pit of probable post medieval date is visible on historic aerial photographs as extant earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located approximately 180m south west of the crossroads where Winchendon Ridge Road and Cannon’s Hill meet, Lower Winchendon, and centred at SP 72415 12373. An irregular shaped pit is visible cut in to ridge and furrow earthworks, it covers an area of 75x68m and is cut in to the underlying Solid Geology of Portland Stone Formation Limestone. (1-5)
