Description
Post medieval drainage ditches are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthwork and were mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in fields on the SE facing bank of the River Thame and centred at SP 79313 14947, a sinuous linear ditch up to 4 metres wide extends about 426 metres from Stone Bridge SW to the railway line at Haydon Hill, where the ditch emerges on the S side of the railway for a further 81 metres, whereupon it links to the river as a tail drain. On aerial photographs taken in 2023 and recent remote sensing data, the ditches remain visible (1-5).
